Fade

During the final year of my training, I had to make the biggest project in a team of game artists, game designers, sound artists and led by a producer.

Details :

  • Work time : 7 months (part-time, one week at school to work on it/one week in company)

  • Group of 2 programmers, 2 designers, 3 graphical artists, 1 sound artist, 1 producer

  • Platform : Windows

  • Used Unreal Engine 4.17.2

"Dive into the memory of a man and face the cataclysm that threaten to erase the identity of his world. Share his adventure in order to save what is dear to him." To advance through this game, the player can rely on his own move set and the multiples systems created for the game. The character is able to run, jump and climb on some surfaces. Then, using the physics engine, he’s able to move and rotate objects of different sizes. He can also pick and throw the smallest ones. Using the chemical engine, he can interact with his environment by using the different elements available : Fire, Water, Wood and Ceramic. But there is against the player a special zone. The nature of that zone is chemical and physical property eraser. When a falling rock overlap with this zone, it will stop falling while some fire could stop burning. To counter this effect, there is an other special zone who can re-enable those properties.
The player cannot control the camera, because it’s placed on a rail created by the game designers. This this tool, they were able to create some interests points for the player.
Within the pause menu, the player can enter the photo mode, allowing him to freely take some pictures of the character in the world with some additional graphical parameters. Then, he can look at the shots in the gallery of the main menu.

The game is available in different languages. Text languages are : French, English, Japanese, Italian and Portuguese. It’s also been dubbed in English, French and Japanese (don’t try it please).
